Md. Sajjad Hossain is a creative translator, essayist, writer and Nazrul researcher. He wants to uphold the glory of Indian literature to the entire world through translation. It is rightly said that owing to lack of good translation Indian literature is not getting the Nobel Prize for the second time. Keeping this in mind, Mr. Hossain has authored several books among which five books — “Banaphool retold”, “Four Poets”, “Nazrul: The Love Poet”, “Lalon: The Great Poet” (these four are translation works), “What is English” — have been already published, and warmly accepted by readers and intellectuals at home and abroad.

Mr. Hossain thinks: translation unfolds the horizon of knowledge and it paves the way for new areas of human intelligence. Had there been no translation the very purpose of knowledge would stagnate and be tied to dead decaying log, and be lost to narrow geographical wall. Had it not been translation the Renaissance would not have spread all over the world. Had it not been translation French Revolution, rich thoughts and literary creations, scientific inventions, new trends and ideas and different areas of contributions to human knowledge would not have come to be known all over the world. If there were no translation, trade and commerce could not have been possible in the ancient world and in the modern world. Every nation must encourage her creative translators if she is to evolve her national identity and if she wants to get enriched. A translator is indeed a national integrator and a cultural ambassador.
